Americana

The theme for the Paper Cutz Challenge this week is "4th of July". I took a little different approach on this one, rather than the usual fireworks and flag.

The image I chose is from Digi Doodle. Quilts represent Americana at its most creative mode. I kept the traditional colors of red, white and blue for patriotism. The sentiment reads :the only way to have a friend is to be one." This is my philosophical self at 3:39 a.m. The U.S. as a country must be a friend to other countries if .... you get the idea. If you want to get into symbolism then the gold Dazzle stripes and the crystals represent the material wealth of our country (instead of just cool embellishment). I guess what I'm saying is, I made this card not knowing where I was going to use it, but really liked the image. So you are the lucky people that get to see it!

Nine & Ten: McMahon Five Bear

It has been a long but productive day. Here are cards #9 and #10. They use the same Girly Bear image from McMahon Five Designs, but one is treated elegantly and the other is more "fun".

Girly Bear all dressed in pink/white. Two shades of pink cardstock criss cross under the encircled image. The DP is from HOTP. The paper, corner gold Dazzles and gold pearls are all available from Paper Wishes. The gauzy ribbon and the acrylic sticker "Treasure" were in my stash.

In a lighter treatment of Girly Bear, she is dressed in blue, still (obviously) looking very nice. However I chose a brighter, floral paper and a pink checkered paper with "Life Happens" stamped in the squares. Four blue paper roses embellish the right edge of the card.

I didn't see any challenges that these would fit with (tomorrow there probably will be) but I wanted to share with my followers anyways. Some of you are veterans of papercrafting and others are newbies. I want to show the Newbies that the same image can be used in multiple ways. Both of these cards will be going in the box for OWH. Some military person will have a little girl with a birthday or a need for a note from Daddy or Mommy and will love getting a Girly Bear card.

Remember our military personnel this 4th of July Weekend. They aren't celebrating with fireworks, they are watching out for dangerous explosions. If you see a veteran or active military person - tell them Thank You. They can't hear it often enough.

Big Sandbox

Prairie Fairy's Challenge (ending shortly) theme is Summer Vacation. This image reminds me of our grandson Zerek. He loves the beach. "Big Sandbox!"

Three Bugaboo Cards

All three of these cards will be included in the next batch of OWH (Operation Write Home) cards that I turn in in two weeks. All three used HOTP papers and Bugaboo images.

This first card is my entry to CAS-tastic Challenges. CAS stands for "clean & simple". It is a sketch challenge this week.

I think this is the cutest little boy. He reminds me of our grandsons. This wonderful guy is ready for school. The papers for this card came out of a book of coordinating papers all in navy & white. I added the gold pearls since I didn't have any dark blue or black ones that I could find.

I love the way this card came out. "I love you, love" is the sentiment. Aimed at being an anniversary card, it could also be a "just because" card or "missing you" or "thinking of you".

For those of you counting, these are cards #5-7 for today. LOL

4th card before noon

That's right. This is the fourth card I've completed and it isn't even noon yet. I am on a ROLL!!!!

Zig Zag Challenge

 My Time to Craft Challenge theme is Zig Zag. Of course I saw the challenge and immediately thought of this Zig Zag paper. The paper makes me think of water, pool, ocean, swimming, etc. I cut a slit along the zig zag and slide the image behind it. The little feet are actually baby feet. However they work well for bare feet in the sand. The little fishy brads are one of my favorite shaped brad (or even just a favorite embellie)  So the 3td post of the day is my card for MTCC.

For the Birds

This new image of Mr. Brown from Phindy's Place shows him in his workshop. The sentiment: "Boys and their Toys" sums it up. Mom used to say it was better doing this than chasing blondes.
This card is my second and final entry to Phindy's Place Challenge of using a 3D element and a Phindy image in making our card. Two of the birdhouses (yellow one and blue one) were printed and colored twice. They have dimension dots to make it appear that these birdhouses are over the table, closer to the "audience".
