Phindy & Flowers Challenge

Phindy's Challenge this week (and it is ending soon) is to create with a Phindy image and flowers. You know,"April Showers bring May Flowers." Once again this is an image that I love, but haven't had success in coloring it. This time it came out just the way I wanted on the first try. Maybe I'm getting better at coloring? LOL. I have to find more of this floral paper. I am rationing it. I love it! The gold Dazzles are to add a little sparkle (and fill in that white space in the image block).

For Fun Challenge with rubber stamps

When I was told that my first official card as a member of the DT for For Fun Challenges would be to use a rubber stamp (instead of a digi) I thought: "Oh No!" I have never been able to get a clean imprint despite trying rubber/wood and acrylic stamps with ink pads, chalk, etc. But I gave it the old college try (whoever came up with that saying?). It only took 4 tries to get a good imprint. I had purchased this stamp a couple of years ago and never used it. Since DDIL is a horse lover I got it thinking she might get into card making or scrapbooking. I stamped it on some HOTP paper and then adhered that to a chipboard train covered with My Mind's Eye paper. The challenge calls for 2 colors (brown & silver) plus white (or black). It also calls for 3 embellies. I used silver Dazzle border - sorry it is hard to see - clear crystal "gems" and two silver coils positioned at the center of the wheels.
Now why did I put horses on a train shaped card? By using the browns I am going for an Old West feel. Trains, horses (including stage coaches) were the only way to travel.

I also found out today that my bookmark won the Squigglefly challenge. I  posted this when I entered it, but I'm going to post it again here because I can. I thought I was being clever with the sentiment. Sir Chester can certainly spin some yarn. I'll let you decide which kind.

Debating with Self - Kitty style

I saw this digi at Wink Wink Ink and fell in love. Now the hard part. The challenge at Stamping Sisters in Christ Challenge is to use the colors blue, brown and white. I can't go into details, but this picture would also fit the Paper Cutz Challenge that will be announced on Friday..

I added some smoky blue ribbon and two pearl brads. I don't know about you, but this card makes me sleepy. It is late and all I can think of ..... Zzzzzzzz

Triple Play!!

I have THREE fun cards to share with you tonight! This first one is for the My Time to Craft Challenge (MTCC). The challenge for the week was to use swirls and stars. I have a base of pale yellow cardstock from Recollections. The stars and the flourish I cut from gold metallic vinyl on the Cricut Expression using the Accent Essentials cartridge. Amazing, I don't have a digi stamp on here. How did that happen? I do have a tea bag folded flower made from Me & My Big Ideas polka dotted paper. It is secured with a blue/silver sparkly brad.

I just came across the site Designed 2 Delight over the weekend. Apparently the first digi for the month is a freebie that you pick up at the site. Then if you get an entry in using that digi before the deadline, the next digi is emailed to you. Enter that one on time and you get the 3rd... The watering can is the first one for May. There are only a couple of days left to enter. I used this gorgeous flowery paper from Me & My Big Ideas. A few silver Dazzle accents. Of course the digis are colored with Copic markers.

This third card I am totally delighted with. It is for Isabella's Challenge.  The flowers are an Isabella's Sketchbook digi stamp. The thin lines and swirls didn't lend itself to being trimmed out and the white paper seemed to complement the colors. I decided to keep it white. There is a short piece of multi-colored striped ribbon from Michael's and Gold Dazzles from HOTP to add some sparkle. The lettering is from EKSuccess.

It is rare that I am this happy with three consecutive cards. Check out some of these new (at least to me) challenges.

ABC Christmas - I actually have some cards to share!

Can you believe it? I'm early this week. Here is one of my catch up cards as well as my entry for this week's Sew Many Cards Challenge. "B" is for (Santa) Bear. He is colored with Copic markers and centered on red and green cardstock. While carefully holding his candy, he is surrounded with gold Dazzles. This is a sparkly card.


The new letter this week is "Q". "Q" is for quilts
and (snow) queen. It is also for quiet. I chose this
snow lady with her quilt. When I saw this digi from
KLM I knew I had to have it.

Friends Having Fun with Color!

The color challenge this past week at Friends Having Fun was: turquoise (flower pot), lemon chiffon (flower, birdie & background paper) and terra cotta (kitty). I made my own terra cotta by using the Sand copic marker and then going over it with light orange.
The image is from Bugaboo, the sponsor of this challenge. I love their kitty images.
I added three brads at the top: copper, turquoise and gold. The corners are gold Dazzles. The sentiment at the bottom is from Monday's Metals - Blessed. Kitties are blessings in our lives or the bird may feel blessed that the kitty was discovered before catching him. This card is purrfect for any cat lover for any occasion.

What is Your Definition of Yarn?

Yarn. Is it that string of fuzzy stuff you use to knit or crochet? or is it a story, a tall tale? The Squigglefly challenge this week was to make a bookmark using one of their digis. I love their cat images. (Sir Chester does too!) This is a very simple bookmark using plain yellow cardstock from Recollections. It was on sale this week at Michael's. I colored the kitty using copic markers. After printing out the phrase for the play on words I added a border strip of gold Dazzles. Some dark teal ribbon through the hole punch and it was complete. I would like to make more bookmarks, but personally prefer the ones with magnets. Sometime kitties (I wonder who) like to play with ribbon as much as yarn and remove bookmarks from my books. No ribbon + magnets would make the temptation go away.
